Blog Posts

Just a reminder that I won't be posting on New England Stamper any longer.  There are several new posts on my other blog, Vintage Page Designs, including some several showing pictures of my studio.

Head on over and say 'hi'.

Life's too short....

Life is too short for 2 blogs! Seriously, I feel like Jekyll and Hyde some days trying to figure out what I should post here on New England Stamper and what I should post on Vintage Page Designs. By the time I decide what to post, I've lost all enthusiasm for blogging. And that's not the point, right?

So, I've decided to stick with one blog - Vintage Page Designs and post whatever I darn well like! Stamping projects, family pictures, quotes, challenges, guest designers, mixed media pieces etc. And I'm going to stop worrying about it so much because life's too short....and this is meant to be fun.

If you're a follower here or have me in your reader, please consider switching over to the Vintage Page Designs blog. I'll be posting mostly vintage paper inspiration and stamping with only a small bit of my store thrown in. Hope to see you there!

Ali

PS The candle holder above is one that I'll be posting next week....there's a new card on my blog right now.

Valentine Mini Journal

I created this mini Valentine art journal a while ago for a class I offered at a local community education program. It's actually one of my photo albums from my store and I created little panels each each page. Here are some close-ups:

I included a variety of different things - silk flowers, buttons, photos, scrabble tiles and stamped images.

Here's a picture of the whole thing open:

Happy Valentine's Day!

What's New in the Store

It was another busy week in the shop making custom map albums for the Philippines, North America and Turkey!

I finally found time to add some cute vintage paper bundles that I created a while ago. These are a great size for card makers and mixed media artists. I was inspired by the Basic Grey 6" x 6" pads of patterned paper and as I use so much vintage paper in the cards I make, I figured that others might want to do the same.

I also added a new size spiral bound photo album - a mini 4" x 4" version with the popular map cover. Don't you love that vintage suitcase I found at a thrift store last week :)

Finally, this week I got a brand new look! Meredith at Jack & Molly created a great new logo and banner for me, plus a cute Facebook avatar. Head on over there and give me a "like".

Have a great week,

Ali

Tea Dyed Tag Collage

I created a bunch of mixed media tags this week and decided to mount them onto a canvas to make a quick wall hanging.

The tags all started out plain white from the office supply store before I dyed them in strong tea. It was messy but fun!

I used lots of different thing to decorate the nine tags. I'll tell you what they are under each picture:

Top row, left to right
Tag 1: stamped text plus vintage saver stamps
Tag 2: stamping (Oxford Impressions) plus little bundle of sticks
Tag 3: stamping (Artistic Outpost) plus a dried flower and pearl

Middle Row, left to right
Tag 1: stamping, fabric flower and vintage button
Tag 2: pre-printed transparency on stamped text
Tag 3: vintage sheet music, lace and button

Bottom Row, left to right
Tag 1: stamping (Artistic Outpost), patterned paper and dried flower plus pearl
Tag 2: stamping (Crafty Individuals), vintage lace and pearls
Tag 3: stamping, fabric flowers, vintage button and a hat pin

Here are a few close up pictures:

I attached a piece of vintage French dictionary page to painted a canvas board and mounted the tags on top. It was a fun project - now I just need to find it a home in my house!

Hope you like it :)
