Christmas Inchie Cards

Before the holiday season is over, I wanted to share a couple of inchie cards I made using some $1 stamps from Inkadinkadoo.

To create the inchies, I washed scraps of watercolor paper with yellow and blue ink, then added a thin layer of Shimmer paint (SU).  Once the scraps were thoroughly dry, I stamped the images with Versafine black ink.

I punched out the yellow inchies with a 1" square punch, trimmed off 1/8" with my xacto knife, then mounted them onto 1" squares of Crushed Curry c/stock.  The blue ones were merely punched out with the 1" square punch and mounted directly onto a rectangle of black c/stock.

The bases are my favorite Fabriano watercolor cards and a few rhinestones and a little ribbon finished them off.

Herringbone Card

Here's a card I made using the Herringbone technique from the Dec 09/Jan 10 issue of the TJ newsletter for the current Gingersnap Creations color challenge (gold, purple and green).

Purple, gold and green challenge

Instead of using strips of patterned paper, I used 1/2" strips of card stock instead.  The purple c/stock (SU Elegant Eggplant)
was run through the Big Shot in an embossing folder and the gold c/stock
is Retro Gold Glossy Lustre by PaperTemptress.  For the green pieces, I made a masterboard on SU Old
Olive) with images from Hearts in Touch (Collage It plate) and then cut it into strips.

Masterboard

Once the herringbone piece was assembled, I ran it through the Big Shot with the Top Note die (SU) and sponged around the edges with eggplant ink.  The piece of herringbone has quite a lot of contrast in it, so I left quite a lot of white space on the card to make sure the card didn't get too busy.  A focal sentiment, gold cord and brads finish up the card.

Thanks for visiting!

Inchie Book Swap

As promised, here's the Inchie Book that I received from my swap partner Becky over at Addicted to Inchies.  I was thrilled to receive this in the mail - it's so beautiful!  The cover and pages are made from hand made papers filled with leaves and petals - I love all the textures she included in this book.

Welcome to the first-ever Gingersnap Creations Blog Hop and Hop Stop #2!

HIT Blog Hop

If you’ve already been hopping then hopefully you have just come from the Gingersnap Creations blog. If you are starting here, welcome! It's a loop so you can start anywhere along the way!

At each stop, you need to collect a word! There are 10 stops in all starting and ending with the Gingersnap Creations blog where you can get all the specific information and get a peak at the Christmas 2009 plate from Hearts in Touch.

When you get all your words, 9 in all, unscramble them to form an art quote. Once you have your guess at the quote, email it and your name to gingersnapstamp@gmail.com by December 13, 2009. We will be picking one lucky winner at random from the correct entries to win the Hearts in Touch Christmas 2009 plate!

My word is "but".

Your next stop on the hop is Debby at Debby's Stuff. Good luck!

Bird Inchie Book

Back in October I took part in an inchie book swap with the Addicted to Inchies group and I haven't had a chance to share my creation yet.  The book pages measure 2" x 5.75" and there are 5 pages in total plus the 2 covers.  I filled 2 of the pages with bird inchies and left the others blank for my partner to fill.

The covers are made from chipboard and covered with patterned paper and the pages are kraft c/stock.  The book is bound with hemp twine and accented with various ribbons and a letter charm with my swap partner's initial.  All the supplies are listed below.

Winter Wonderland

I'm high in the sky right now on my way to England, but technology being such a wonderful thing, I can pre-schedule blog posts - yeah!

I made this card for the Gingersnaps Winter Wonderland challenge using a new Christmas plate from Hearts in Touch

Winter wonderland

I inked the image with a brayer and kaleidoscope pad and stamped it on Whisper White.  I covered the whole image with Versmark and heat embossed it with Iridescent Ice e/p from Stampin' Up!  The image is double matted on Whisper White and Night of Navy.  The card base is Classic Columns from PaperTemtress and the sheer navy ribbon came from the bottom of my ribbon jar.

Thanks for visiting!
